Top 5 #OOTD posts on Instagram this week

Because we all need a little bit of outfit inspiration for the weekend...

@brandymelvilleusa
The Little Mermaid much? Brandy Melville nailed it with this underwater look.  Ariel would be envious of these flared floral soft pants and this halter crop top that looks comfortable enough to go out in...and proceed to fall asleep in (we won’t judge). This #OOTD post is absolute perfection. No further explanation needed.
@beyonce
Divorce rumors have been swirling, and in the mother of all #OOTD posts, Bey absolutely SQUASHED them with the click of one “post” button. In case anybody had doubts, Queen B came back to remind the world who her man is. Take that, media.
@ineabell
This #OOTD shows how chic a simple black and white outfit can be. This post gives off the “strolling through NYC on a lazy afternoon” vibe, and I totally dig it. Plus, those birkenstocks look comfortable and pull the entire outfit together in a I-don’t-care-enough-to-wear-anything-else kinda way.
@imjennim
With the Outside Lands Music Festival giving us plenty of adorable festival fashion to drool over, this #OOTD was absolute summer-to-fall festival fashion transition perfection. High waisted boyfriend jeans, black booties, black hat, and camel jacket- a formula to envy and also one easy to copy in the upcoming weeks.

Rebel Redefined girls know the value in the perfect graphic tee, and so does @itsmisshuynh. She paired hers with black shorts, a backwards hat, sunnies and black boots. This is the perfect kick-back cool girl outfit. Plus, she’s sitting in the middle of train tracks. She’s too cool (for anything but ivy league) school.

The ULTIMATE Back To School Shopping Guide

/

The summer is coming to an end, which means one thing and one thing only…STATIONARY SHOPPING. This is one of my favorite past times. Don’t judge me. I have selected the top 5 things on my stationary ‘must have’ list for the new school year.

1.     Seltzer Goods Notebook (Seltzergoods.com $8)
 Two of my favorite things combined… stationary and bacon. This notebook is perfect for jotting down thoughts and important things you may (or may not) learn in class.

2.     Kate Spade Binder Clips (Seejanework.com $18)
 How cute are these though? I accept that they are expensive and slightly unnecessary but I need/want these adorable paper clips.

3.     Paperchase Highlighters (us.asos.com $6)
 Pandas are my fave, so naturally when I saw these little guys I just had to have them. I am a compulsive highlighter; they just make note taking and studying a bit more bearable.

4.     Cath Kidston Pencil Set (us.asos.com $8.71)
 We all need something to take notes with, and these pencils are girly and amazing. It seems strange to refer to pencils as amazing, but they just are okay?

5.     My Little Pony Pencil Case (us.asos.com $11.61)
Well, you do need somewhere to keep your pens and pencils, so why not get this. The 90s are making a come back, so jump on the bandwagon. Also, my little pony is excellent and I know you agree.

Happy Shopping!

Top Ten Things We Loved This Week

/

Oh Friday, how we missed you! Here are the top 10 things we loved this week:

1. Happy Shark week!! Shark lovers rejoice, shark week is back. Pop the popcorn and pull up a chair for a week of shark goodness on Discovery.

2. Well, Kim Kardashian is putting out a book full of just her selfies.  I honestly have no idea who will buy this but lord knows it will probably sell out.  The book will be call “Selfish”…very fitting.

3. Someone made a Fifty Shades of Grey x Frozen mashup and it is so creepy yet so good at the same time.  Watch it here

4. Maryam Mirzakhani became the first woman to win the Fields Medal, the most prestigious honor in mathematics.  YOU GO GIRL!!!!

5. Michael Cera surprised us all but putting out an 18-track album.  You can listen to it here on Buzzfeed

6. Refinery 29 brings you some fab street style from the Outside Lands music festival. Check it out here!

7. Lifetime is making a Brittany Murphy biopic.  Will you watch it!?

8. Opening ceremony won’t be putting on a typical fashion show at NYFW but instead a one-act play.  The play will be directed by Spike Jonze and written by none other than Jonah Hill. I can honestly say I never thought I would see Jonah Hill even near but fashion week but I can excited to see what Opening Ceremony has up their (designer) sleeves!

9. Kate Mara teams up with Johnny Wujek (my favorite!) and H&M to celebrate the launch of the H&M Studio Fall 2014 Collection.  Both Kate and Johnny will curate the H&M windows in several New York stores for NYFW. Select H&M stores across the country will also showcase Johnny and Mara’s fashion picks!

10. And of course we could not talk about this past week without acknowledging the death of beloved Robin Williams.  Check out this tearful tribute to Robin Williams from Jimmy Fallon, see it here.Thank you for all the laughs Mr. Williams.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Monday Mantra

Monday, August 11, 2014 /

Last week Rebel Redefined tweeted, “A girl should be two things: who and what she wants.” This quote is one of many ways to describe a Rebel Girl. Being a Rebel Girl means striving for what you want in life and focusing on what you need to do to get there. With the season transitioning to fall and, for many of us, school fast approaching, we are confronted with new hurdles. Concentrating on who you want to be and what your goals are will help you become the best possible version of yourself. So, with a new academic year near, Rebel Redefined challenges you to do a few things that will help you thrive. First, write down your ultimate goal: land a dream job in business, attain financial stability, or make peace with your parents - anything. Next, write down a list of things you can accomplish this semester, in the short term, that will bring you closer to your final goal. Post your list somewhere where it is clearly legible to remind yourself that your present actions put you on a path toward the thing you most hope to accomplish. A Rebel Girl is hardworking and determined; these goal sheets will help you maintain momentum. With the support of the entire Rebel team behind you, we encourage you to do something great today, tomorrow, and everyday after that.

Make sure to follow Rebel Redefined on Twitter @Rebel_Redefined for our #QOTD! Also, tell us your ultimate goal via #rebeldreams.

Make today great!

Alex
