Happy Birthday, Bikini!

Happy Birthday to the piece of clothing that costs the most to cover the least amount of area compared to any other item (besides stuff in Miley’s wardrobe). You guessed right, your favorite summer wardrobe piece the Bikini turns 68 today! July 5^th is the day that all women should pay homage to the French designer Louis Réard. Without his idea of the bikini in 1946 we would all be waltzing around in those god-awful dress swimsuits on our days out to the swim pool. Celebrate the day that birthed the first bikini by throwing on your fav bikini, grabbing your girlfriends, and heading out to have some fun in the sun.

Top 10 Things We Loved This Week

Happy 4th of July! We know you are eager to get out in the sun and enjoy the holiday weekend, so catch up quickly with the top ten best articles, videos and stories from the past week!

1. Gisele Bundchen is rocking a buzz cut in the new Balenciaga ad. We totally love it and sort of hate it at the same time. Read more about the campaign here.

2. Diane Von Furstenberg REALLY wants to make google glass happen. We're not sure we need them but we DO love her persistence. You go, DVF. Read more about the new line here.

3. Taylor Swift and Jaime King had a pre 4^th of July pool hang and posted a video on Instagram that makes us super jealous that our invites (probably) got lost in the mail. Soak up their cuteness here. 

 4. Bruno Mars visited  one of his biggest fans in the hospital and it's the most heart-warming story ever. Eleven-year-old Zumyah Thorpe had a major brain injuries after a car crash last year leaving her an orphan but Bruno made her day. Swoon over the story here.

 5. The famous bench in “The Fault in Our Stars” has gone missing from the busy street of Amsterdam. Although authorities are upset, we’re just jealous we didn’t think of it first! Read more here.

7. Shia Labeouf voluntarily receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction after his recent arrest. We’ll always support a bad boy gone good. Get the scoop here!

8. This kid conquered putting pants on without his hands by dancing them on, which is a skill we all need post-manicure. We also feel like these moves could be a major workout, possibly the next Zumba? Watch the crazy kid here.

9. Jennifer Lopez said that she wants Selena Gomez to play her in a movie about her life. Making us wonder why we didn’t think of that before...so, when does filming start? See more here.

10. Miss Miley Cyrus has a new puppy in her life named Emu. She said she had a memorial service for her beloved angel Floyd who passed away a few months ago and that he gave her his blessing to move on. Top 5 Celeb Looks Of The Week

Hey lovely ladies its time for your weekly fix of the best celebrity looks! From rising stars on the fashion scene to veterans of the “best dressed’ list take notes of how they are rocking it this summer!

  

1. Nicola Peltz

First up is Nicola Peltz from Transformers: Age of Extinction.  Her white hot red carpet look is perfect!  She paired a Stella McCartney cut out body suit with a drool worthy Dolce & Gabbana lace skirt.  I am for sure going to try to copy this dreamy outfit for my next fancy girls night in the city!

2. Jamie Chung

Sticking with the “white hot” theme is Jamie Chung.  Her breezy wide leg jumpsuit is the perfect summer go-to. The straw Panama hat adds the finishing touch.  Not to mention her sunnies are the icing on the cake! She looks so boho chic and comfortable.  This outfit can go from a day on a yacht to a day at a music festival. 

3. Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy is bringing the 70’s back! I normally am not a fan of light wash jeans but the way she styled these flares makes me want to find a pair! Her flowy crop top and nude purse keep the outfit simple and chic.  Also, any outfit looks better with a cute dog. 

4. Emma Roberts

And now on to summer grunge!  Emma Roberts looks like such a cool chick in her floral dress and vintage tee.  The mix of pretty and punk is a match made in heaven. I pretty much want to wear this every day now.

5. Ashley Madekwe

Another summer grunge outfit to drool over!  Ashley Madekwe looks so effortlessly awesome in this slip dress and biker jacket.   Her minimalist heel is the perfect shoe for this look.  I pretty much refuse to ever put my arms in my jacket sleeves ever again.

** Honorary mention goes to Olivia Palermo’s insanely gorgeous wedding dress…well wedding shorts and skirt…skort? Anyway she looked flawless!

Summer Jewelry Must-Haves: 5 Under $50

They say that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and I could not agree more. However, for me it isn’t all about diamonds. Anything shiny and fun gets me genuinely excited. I openly admit to being a jewelry hoarder, with numerous boxes filled with all sorts of fun sparkly things. My obsession with bling has led me to do some online snooping. This post is about my five must have jewelry items for the summer season (all under $50…because money doesn’t grow on trees).

The choker is making a comeback, and I am so happy about it.  I have seen them in so many stores but this one from Topshop is my favourite. It’s girly and grunge at the same time, a combination that works wonders this summer.

If there is one thing I am passionate about in life, it is rings. I have a fascination with them. You can actually never wear too many rings in my opinion.
