Style Envy: Lollapalooza 2014

Thursday, August 7, 2014 /

The summertime is all about festival style and last weekend at Lollapalooza did not disappoint! I only was able to make it to one day of the three day long event held every summer in Chicago.  I braved a very rainy and muddy Sunday in Grant Park but it was for sure worth it to see the Kings of Leon headline with my favorite Chicago Skyline in the back! Since everyone was pretty covered in mud by the time I got there I wasn't able to shoot streetstyle so I'm picking my favorites snapped by Cosmo, Billboard, and refinery29.

1) Now THIS is how you do a flower crown without looking cliche.

5) Loving this classic striped jumper.

6) And here is what I wore! I bought my ticket 3 days before the show so I didn't have time to search for the perfect outfit! I found this fun dress at Forever21 an paired it with my trusty combat boots and a DIY fringe arm band!

Dresses We Love

Wednesday, August 6, 2014 /

Summer is winding down and I am still trying to fit my last summer inspired outfits into my busy schedule. Although shorts are always a good idea I like to turn things up a notch by pulling out that cute summer dress. If you are like me, a poor college student, you are ballin’ on a budget. If you can relate here are my top five summer dresses (for a very small price):

1.     For those days when your strolling through a park or site seeing this little number can do it all. Put a flannel around your waist, look at the price, and you’ll be sold. Buy it here.

2.     Recently I went to a concert with my BFF’s and might I add had a blast. I wore an acid wash dress similar to this and became obsessed with the fact that you can do it all with acid wash. Dress it up or dress it down, it doesn’t matter you’ll rock it no matter what. Get this cute one here.

3.     Yes, this dress is from Urban Outfitters. No, it will not cost you a fortune. Yes, it is gorgeous and you should totes buy it. Get it here.

4.     For those days when you want to have some pep in your step this dress will do you wonders. With the high waist detail and cap sleeves you cannot go wrong. Love it? Get it here now.

5.     The ultimate summer dress is on my favorite shop, Rebel Redefined, of course. Head over and get your Rebel Beach Club Tank Dress. On your mark, get set, go! Buy it now here!

Alex

5 Things To Know This Monday Morning

Monday, August 4, 2014 /

We have the top 5 things you MUST know this morning. And yes, any news that involves Beyonce is considered super important.

Beyonce finally addresses the infamous elevator incident in her Flawless remix with the line "Of course sometimes shit go down when it's a billion dollars on the elevator.”

Christian Louboutin’s nail polish finally hit the market, and it’s as beautiful as it is expensive. Do you think the polish (or any polish, for that matter) is worth the $50 price tag?

Givenchy’s creative director turned 40 this week and celebrated in Ibiza with what seems to have been the party of the year. Attended by everyone from Kate Moss to the Kardashian clan, it was star-studded and extravagant, and even had its own hashtag to remind all of us who weren’t in attendance of how boring how are lives are in comparison.

Lady Gaga is the cover of the September issue Harper’s Bazaar, effectively proving that there is nothing better than pink Chanel and a French bulldog.

Rumor has it Jennifer Lawrence and boyfriend Nicholas Hoult have broken up. We hope Katniss finds her happily ever after soon. In the meantime, we will totally volunteer as tribute to be JLaw's BFF and shoulder to cry on.

Have a great Monday!

Top Ten Things We Loved This Week

Friday, August 1, 2014 /

Well hello August!  With July behind us here are ten things we loved this week.  From The Hunger Games to Beiber getting punched it was a crazy week!

1.     9o’s girls REJOICE! There is a new *NSYNC albm…kindof.  Sony realesed “The Essential *NSYNC” album filled with hits and rarities.  The best part about it is that the members of *NSYNC had no idea it was happening!

2.     All you Hunger Games fan most likely saw the new Mocking Jay movie trailer! Get out the popcorn….this is gonna be good! Watch it here!

3.     Sons of Anarchy meets Glee?? It’s an unlikely pair but news broke that Lea Michele will be guest starring along side the hottie Charlie Hunnam in the new Sons of Anarchy season! COUNT US IN!!

4.     Here is your viral video of the week! I am so in love with this little girl.  When she realizes that her baby brother will yes indeed grow up and not stay a cute baby forever she loses it! Watch the cutie here!

5.     My ultimate girl crush Cara Delevingne is the new face of TopShop. She grabs the spot as the first solo star for TopShop. She looks like a mega babe in campaign!

6.     So The Bachelorette (finally) came to an end on Monday.  I equally love and hate the show but this finale was a good one! After Andi picked the “former baseball player” (does he actually have a job now?) it was revealed on the after show that she slept with the runner up! YIKES.  The fantasy suite was the “unspoken” part about the show but Nick let it slip that they got it on!

7.     And now to good television…PROJECT RUNWAY IS BACK! Fashionistas rejoice!! Are you in…or are you out?

8.     Orlando Bloom hit Justin Beiber. Who’s team are you on??

9.     Allison Willams from GIRLS was just cast as Peter Pan.  I know she will be able to rock that Peter Pan pixie cut.

10.  Positive news for American Apparel is sometimes hard to come across.  But, they just appointed their first female board member!

Wishing you an awesome weekend!
