July is here and it is officially feeling like summer
outside! Summer is my absolute favorite season because the days are longer, the
sun is brighter, and most importantly – my skin is tanner. The perfect addition
to any beach or pool day is the perfect playlist. I love finding fun new
artists to listen to rather than the same old songs that replay on the radio getting us stuck in a music rut.
With the holiday weekend coming get ready to relax, blast your new favorite
song, and definitely get your tan on.
Below are some of my favorite rising artists to check out!
1. Chela
This electro pop singer is the ultimate Rebel girl. The 24 year old Melbourne-based singer born
Chelsea May Wheatley, is gaining recognition for her unique style and music.
She sounds like a mix between Lily Allen and Sky Ferreira, and I’ve had
‘Romanticise’ on repeat for days.
2. Caitlyn Scarlett
Caitlyn Scarlett is an ultra-talented 18 year old from
London who just released her debut EP in May titled ‘Jurassic Jukebox and
Drugs’. I have had ‘Bad Love’ on every
playlist of mine since I first heard it. I can’t wait to see how huge Miss Scarlett
will get in the future!
3. Wild Belle
Wild Belle is a pop indie
brother-and-sister duo from the US. They first started getting attention in
2012 when they released their single “Keep You”. In 2013 they released their
debut album ‘Isles’. What I love about them is their unusual mix of styles. I
love this remix of their song “It’s Too Late” by Employee Of The Year.
4. Ryn Weaver
This pop songstress just released
her first pop single OctaHate less than a week ago – and it deserves a spot on
your summer playlist. The catchy song got attention from Jesse Ware and Passion
Pit that are now fans of hers. I can’t wait to see what else she comes out with
this summer!
5. Little May
Little May is a folk and indie band formed in Australia in 2012. The trio includes the talented Hannah Field, Liz Drummond and Annie Hamilton. They just released their buzz-worthy single “Dust” and it will make you want to be dressed like you just walked out of Free People catalog (possibly frolicking in a field? – OK, maybe that’s just me)
