I will admit, when you look at me the first thing you think is not ‘wow she has gangsta swag’, but that is irrelevant. I am addicted to Hip-hop and rap music. Other than One Direction (you know you love them), Hip-hop is all I listen to. That is why my Tuesday tunes are going to be my five favourite Hip-hop artists of the moment.
We
will start of this magnificent future playlist with the wonderful Rakim Mayers,
known to his loyal subjects as A$AP Rocky. A$AP has risen to success since the
release of his mix tape Live.Love.A$AP in 2011. Since then he has had so many
fantastic releases and collaborations it’s hard to keep track. Goldie is a song I listen to at least twice a
day, every day. It is a perfect example of A$AP’s laid-back style of rapping.
LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN.
2. Chance the Rapper
Relatively
new on the hip-hop scene, but so talented. Chance the Rapper has recently
become one of my favourite artists to listen to. His songs just put me in a
good mood. He is not your typical rapper, who constantly talks about all his
struggles and hardships. There is an up-beat vibe to his songs. Listen to ‘Favourite
Song’ featuring Childish Gambino. Try not to smile while listening, I dare you.
This
lovely man from California released his new album ‘Oxymoron’ in January this
year, and it is goooood. It’s so good in fact; I ignore the fact that he has
re-popularized the ‘bucket hat’. It is not a good look, but he gets a pass.
Listen to ‘Collard Greens’ featuring Kendrick Lamar and ‘Hell of a Night’. That
is an order.
4. Frank Ocean
This wonderful man has easy listening perfected. Ocean uses a sort of subdued rhythm in his music, which makes it a very chilled out listening experience. I am obsessed with his album Channel Orange. Honestly, every song is a winner but my favoruites are Super Rich Kids and Novacane (favourite song of all time) of course.
5. Mac Miller
For me, this list would not be complete without Mac Miller.
His album ‘ Watching Movies With The Sound Off’ is what I listen to on repeat.
It has everything I look for in an album. There are a few crazy songs that are
weird in a great way, such as O.K. There are also smoother and slower songs
that are easier to listen to, such as ‘Someone Like You’. All in all, Mac you
did good boy.
Happy Listening!

Becca
